Recruitment Process

At Old Mill we don’t take a ‘one size fits all approach’, each role is individual in its own way and as such we tailor our recruitment process to make sure it supports and brings out the best in you. Outlined below are some of the steps in our process – you may experience some or all of these, depending on the role that you’ve applied for.

Our application process is simple and our recruitment team will support you every step of the way.

1
Apply

Find the job you wish to apply for, click ‘Apply Now’, then simply upload your CV and complete the short application form. You will only ever need to do this once – if you spot another job you fancy, all you need to do is log into your candidate portal and use the one click apply function.

2
Telephone interview

This informal conversation is designed to bring your skills and experience to life. See it as a good opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the role in order to establish if it’s right for you before committing time to a face to face interview. Part of the chat will be around working hours, location and salary expectations. We’ll also talk to you about what you can expect during the interview process.

3
In person interview

For every role there will be at least one face to face interview which will typically take place in the office where the role will be based. We will always work to find a time, date and location that is convenient for you. We are welcoming hosts who seek passion, personality, experience and technical knowledge in our interviewees. We’re keen to answer any questions you may have surrounding the role and internal culture. We are committed to giving honest and clear verbal feedback to all interviewees and aim to come back to you as quickly as possible following your interview.

4
Assessment days

Assessment days are aimed at trainees and graduates and are designed to remove the pressure of an interview environment through a small range of activities that are designed to keep you engaged and showcase your skills and personality. At the start of the day you will be greeted by our friendly team who will deliver a short welcome discussion, followed by a relaxed question and answer session. This will be followed by a varied selection of one-to-one and group activities ranging from problem solving through to working as a team. The day ends with an informal interview. We hope you will find our hints and tips guides within the candidate portal useful when preparing for the assessment day.

5
Verbal offer

If your interview process is successful we look forward to phoning you up to offer you the chance to join our team. If you are happy to accept we will agree a start date and then send you a formal offer letter and contract. You just need to read, sign and post back the copies. Our recruitment team will then carry out any relevant background checks and collect your references.

6
Start

Once all the boxes are ticked, our on-boarding process will begin with a warm welcome and full induction. You can then look forward to great training and support throughout your career here.
